Sarah Finch* (1
st
Mate on SYS Odyssey 2012). It can be seen that there
were only five Full and one Honorary Member of the Sirmoor Club
(50%) sailing this year.
Once again we were based at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club (RCYC)
with its excellent facilities and the tried and tested programme worked
well. We arrived on the Sunday afternoon for the now established
drinks and a BBQ in the evening.
The Crews
Rear: Meryon Bridges, Willie Bicket, Will Hacking, Andrew Johnston,
Nigel St George, Richard Bridges.
Front: Tony Collis, Bruce Jackman, Sarah Finch, Geoff Ashley, Julia Bridges
Monday dawned with absolutely perfect weather; sunshine and a wind
speed of about 15-20 knots. After a full Clubhouse breakfast we re-
paired to the Captain's Room where the crews were announced and we
had our usual indoor 'magnetic board' session with the Principle Race
Officer to bone up on the rules and etiquette of racing before going to
rig the boats. The crews (asterisk denotes skipper) were picked by the
Regatta Committee to try to ensure balanced expertise in all boats:
'Discovery'
– Sarah Finch*, Bruce Jackman, Nigel St George.
'Periscope'
– Tony Collis*, Geoff Ashley, Andrew Johnston.
