Sirmoor Sathis Dheli Day Reunion 2013
Of all the Sirmoor Delhi Day reunions that I have attended, there is no
doubt in my mind that this year’s was the best yet, superbly organised
by Major (GCO) Lalbahadur Gurung, Major (QGO) Narkaji Gurung,
and their organising committee. The whole day was a huge success,
with excellent company, excellent pre-lunch tipan-tapan, followed by
an excellent ‘
bhat’
. Again we were fortunate for the fourth consecutive
year to have the Nishani Mai with full escort provided by 2RGR. Even
though the The Truncheon escort was not in uniform (in MFO boxes)
the Truncheon Jemadar Captain Ranjan Bagdami and the SNCO and
JNCOs were most impressive.
A total of 564 Sirmoories attended plus a record number of some 25
Sirmoor Club members also present to enjoy the reunion. Our regular
stalwarts, Field Marshal Lord Bramall, Lt Gen Sir Peter Duffell, Briga-
diers Bruce Jackman and Vernon Beauchamp, Colonel Christopher
Lavender from HK, and Majors KK Ale, Geoff Ashley, Andrew Johns-
ton, Bhimlal & Minu Gurung, Bishnu & Teju Pun, Chinbahadur & Tara
Thapa, David & Joanna Thomas, Nigel Wylie Carrick and Yambahadur
& Kina Gurung were there to support the event. If you have not been
to a Delhi Day Reunion you really should consider attending next
years which will be held on 15 Sep 2014, at the Samuel Cody Specialist
Sports College, Farnborough, Hants, GU14 8SS. Members are strongly
encouraged to make the effort to attend what is a great reunion. It is a
very jolly affair.
